Salt, sand & brine depleated with storms

NEW MILFORD — A total of $70,000 for sand, salt and overtime hours for the Public Works road crew was approved by the Town Council Monday for roadway storm treatment. The money comes from the Contingency Fund.
About 409 tons of salt and just under 1,200 gallons of liquid brine, as well as 1,700 tons of sand have been used by the Public Works Department since Dec. 7, said Director Mike Zarba. There was 600 tons of road treatment material left for the remainder of the year as of Monday, he told council members.
