Newtown High hosts science and engineering fair

Newtown High School will be host to the  14th Annual Southern Connecticut Science & Engineering Fair on Saturday, Feb. 8, with the public invited to begin visiting the exhibits at noon. The event will go till 3 p.m.

The annual fair  is sponsored by the Southern Connecticut Science & Engineering Foundation (SCSEF). Over 500 students and judges are expected to attend from towns including Darien, Glastonbury, Greenwich, Hamden, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield, Westport and Woodbridge.

 Newtown High School science teacher Tim Dejulio is in charge of Newtown-related logistics and a proud champion of the 11 participating Newtown students.

Newtown High School Principal Chip Dumais said he is proud to be hosting such a prestigious event in the community and encourages residents to come and show their support for their students.

Along with the exhibits, there will be a keynote speaker, David Pogue, the technology columnist for The New York Times who is the television host for “NOVA ScienceNow.”

The public is invited to hear Pogue’s address.
