Newtown Director of
Economic and Community Development Elizabeth Stocker has been elected president of the state Economic Development Association for a second term.
Stocker is the town’s go-to person on economic development issues, and she works closely with the Economic Development Commission on drawing businesses to all of the different areas of town, including Sandy Hook village, the town burrough and the Fairfield Hills campus.
The state organization is a not-for-profit member organizations committed to advancing the practice of economic development across the state.
In all of our area towns, economic development is touted as the way communities will be able to prosper and grow, particularly when it comes to providing services residents want yet fear they cannot afford through rising local taxes.
