The residents of Meadowbrook Manor have long suffered from the impact of flooding, and for at least two years town leaders have been trying to come up with solutions to the water problems.
To date, the town has obtained permission from the state to divert flood water to a state-owned parcel, but the bigger issue of mitigating the flooding will require action from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and an estimated $2.2 million to correct storm drainage in that area. The state has not yet made a ruling on the town’s request for the permit, but town leaders were made aware this last week that Meadowbrook Manor is one of 35 projects under consideration for federal funding to do that work. Initially, the neighborhood was one of 125 applicants.
Tinsley said Monday this is progress, but still no guarantee. He said town officials will continue to monitor this effort.
