This rhododendron sleeps under a blanket of snow — for now

Days like these remind me of that Bette Midler song, “The Rose.”  The  last part says:

“Just remember in the winter

Far beneath the bitter snows

Lies the seed that with the sun’s love

In the spring becomes the rose.

This isn’t a rose bush in front of my home in Newtown, but it is a rhododendron that will bloom again, I know. Have to keep that in mind. On a brighter note, it’s a darn good day for oatmeal, to be followed later by grilled cheese and hot cocoa. Just keeping our fingers crossed the power does not go out. :-) And looking forward to “American Idol” tonight. Hoping Sandy Hook’s Hayley Pettinato will make an appearance.
