Days like these remind me of that Bette Midler song, “The Rose.” The last part says:
“Just remember in the winter
Far beneath the bitter snows
Lies the seed that with the sun’s love
In the spring becomes the rose.
This isn’t a rose bush in front of my home in Newtown, but it is a rhododendron that will bloom again, I know. Have to keep that in mind. On a brighter note, it’s a darn good day for oatmeal, to be followed later by grilled cheese and hot cocoa. Just keeping our fingers crossed the power does not go out. And looking forward to “American Idol” tonight. Hoping Sandy Hook’s Hayley Pettinato will make an appearance.
