PDS Construction & Engineering, of Bloomfield, will be building a new town highway garage for the town of Washington.
The garage burned in May 2012, leaving the town’s fleet of nine highway truck and payloaders and backhoes parceled out to other buildings, primarily an unheated storage barn.
An April groundbreaking is anticipated for the new approximately 12,000-square-foot nine bay garage which will be attached to a still standing 3,000-square-foot structure. A larger mechanical/maintenance area will be part of the new structure.
PDS Construction & Engineering’s bid of $1.5 million was accepted by the Board of Selectmen on Jan. 30.
