Health care worker stole from New Fairfield senior, police say

Nicole Arjona, 35, of Waterbury, was charged Thursday with five theft charges after it was discovered Arjona was stealing from a 93-year old New Fairfield woman she was caring for.
State Trooper Douglas Lange said Thursday that Arjona was a health care worker, who tended to the elderly woman in her home. Beginning around  May. 2013,  police said, Arjona began using the woman’s credit card, purchasing $30,000 worth of items for herself. She also stole jewelry and heirlooms from the woman’s home, police said  and sold them to pawnshops in Danbury and Waterbury for about $20,000.
Lange said after the woman died, her family discovered the thefts in November, 2013.
Arjona, arrested on a warrant Thusday was charged with 2nd degree larceny, credit card theft, illegal use of a credit card, criminal impersonation and forgery. She was released on a $10,000 bond and made her initial court appearance in Superior Court in Danbury Thursday.
