The Western Connecticut Health Network’s Biomedical Research Center on West Street is at the end of a parking lot, away from everyday traffic.
But the center is doing state-of-the-art medical research. Among its projects is trying to better understand how the same dose of chemotherapy will help one set of patients with a p[articular type of cancer, while not helping another set of patients with the same type of cancer. The goal is eventually to be able to personalized treatment, finding the drugs that will suit individual patients rather than a one-treatment-fits-all approach
The network has received a $1.5 million gift from a Ridgefield couple to support the institute’s work. I hope to be writing about it Monday.
