CARMEL, N.Y. —Police have released the name of the man who was killed in a one-car accident at the Mahopac High School late Friday.
The victim was identified as 19-year-old David Diachenko of Mahopac.
Police said Diachencko was driving the 1990 BMW that left the roadway on Baldwin Place Road and struck a school building around 11:26 p.m.
Carmel Police officers, Putnam County Sheriff’s deputies, Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire & Ambulance members, and a Transcare paramedic responded to the accident scene.
An autopsy determined that his death was caused by blunt force trauma to the upper torso that caused severe internal bleeding, police said.
The accident remains under investigation, and police are awaiting the toxicology report and the completion of the accident re-construction analysis.
