In anticipation of the Kent Chamber of Commerce’s First Annual Champagne Stroll, the Kent Memorial Library plans to join in the fun and stay open late for all the strollers who frolic from one store to the next.

This new event will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 29 and Saturday, Nov. 30. According to the Kent Chamber, participants purchase a flute for $5 at the first shop they enter. A portion of the $5 goes to support the Kent Chamber and local causes. Each merchant will be serving a specific bubbly and shoppers will be able to sample champagnes, cavas, preseccos and cremants. The Library will be serving a spanish wine called Segura Viudas Brut Reserva. Also on hand will be non-alcoholic champagne, cider, soda and sweet treats!

While you’re sampling the various flavors, you can browse the many offerings at the library. You can do your shopping at the Holiday Boutique, known for its quality children’s books, scarves, journals, note pads, jigsaw puzzles, beanie babies, “small” books for stocking stuffers and a large selection of books suitable for giving this holiday season.

If art is what you’d like to give this season, the library has a special exhibit titled “Are You Related? A Family Exhibit.” This is the first time, the artistic family of Scott Bricher, Mary Terrizzi, and their daughter, Naya Bricher, have collaborated on a group show. Their work is for sale.

Also happening at the library during the Champagne Stroll is Amnesty Week: Nov. 23 – 30 If you have “lost” items or overdue books, your fines will be forgiven if you return the items with a non-perishable food item which will be donated to the Kent Food Bank.

The library’s Parents’ Committee has created a “Wish Tree” for the Children’s Room. Hanging on the tree are individual requests for donations for children to use in the library. Examples are Amazon gift cards, card stock, sharpies, DVDs, magazine subscriptions, legos, etc.

And the library will be fully open for business: computer use, check out books and movies, enjoy a cozy place to sit and relax in between shopping.

The Kent Memorial Library is located at 32 North Main Street in Kent, Connecticut. For further details, visit www.kentmemoriallibrary.org
