The Greater Danbury Irish Cultural Center presents food, fiddlin’ and fun this weekend to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
Beginning at noon, on Saturday and Sunday, March 15 and 16, corned beef sandwiches will be served, along with corned beef and cabbage dinner and traditional fish and chips.
On Saturday, March 15, Danbury’s own Mighty Ploughboys play their Connecticut kickoff beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the club, at 6 Lake Ave. in Danbury. The Ploughboys will be joined by Celtic Cross Pipes and Drums (seen in this photo taken by Wendy Mitchell) and Steve O’Tree. A $10 cover charge includes music and Coors Light.
On Monday, March 17, St Patrick’s Day celebrations start at noon, “Irish Time.” Corned beef and cabbage with potatoes and carrots will be served by the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, along with corned beef sandwiches on rye. Tim Sheehan of i95fm will be broadcasting live from the club from 3 to 5 p.m. At 6 p.m. the fun continues with O’Tree back for more traditional Irish favorites.
