The building of a new Sandy Hook Elementary School is a priority project for this community, and the architects hired to design the new home for at least five or generations of children to come, Svigals + Partners of New Haven, have a strong vision for how to make this happen.
With great consideration for the families in Sandy Hook, and the people of Newtown, the architects have listened closely to more than 200 people to get a sense of what this place should be: and their proposals are shaping up to be a school that will truly be a sanctuary for young learners and their educators. The structure will be filled with light, and the natural terrain will be used to offer a sense of hope and security.
On Tuesday night, Svigals + Partners will do a full presentation of their plans to the town’s Public Building & Site Commission. They have done a yeomans job; and they welcome community feedback.
The News-Times will continue to follow the progress as it evolves.
