Officers Christopher Shaw & Matthew Deitz were sworn in to the New Milford Police Department on March 24.
Officer Shaw grew up in New Milford and is a graduate of New Milford High School where he earned All Area and All State recognition in Track and Field. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Justice and Law in 2009 from Western Connecticut State University while minoring in psychology.
In recognition of Officer Shaw’s fathers service as a sergeant in the DEEP Protection Police, Officer Shaw was given the same badge number his father had for so many years.
Officer Deitz was hired Oct. 2, 2013 and graduated this week from the Connecticut Police Academy. He also grew up in New Milford and participated in Danbury Police Explorer Program, eventually earning the rank of Explorer Chief.
Deitz was the recipient of the Explorer of the Year Award as well as Northeast Regional Law Enforcement Education Law Enforcement Association Award of Merit.
Deitz is New Milford High School graduate and received his bachelors degree in Justice and Law Administration in 2012.
