SOUTHEAST, N.Y. - A 42-year-old Mahopac woman faces grand larceny and other charges as the result of an investigation into the embezzlement of more than $270,000 from a local business, state police said.
Margaret F. Saloman had worked as a bookkeeper for the business and took the money from the owner’s business and personal accounts, police said.
Police they began the investigation after the business owner hired a forensic accountant who determined the money was missing.
Saloman was charged with second-degree grand larceny and falsifying business records, both felonies, and released after arraignment in Town of Southeast Justice Court. She is due back in court on April 15.
