Another school administrator leaves Newtown

Newtown Middle School has announced the retirement of Assistant Principal Tony Salvatore, who will leave as of the spring break.

In the last year, the Newtown school district has seen a nearly complete overhaul of its administrative team, including a total of four principals and half a dozen other administrators, including assistant principals. Newtown is now in the process of interviewing for a new high school principal to replace Carhip will soon also be welcoming a new schools superintendent, Dr. Jospeh Erardi from Southington.

An announcement to parents stated that Salvatore is retiring after 35 years in education, 20 as a teacher and 15 years in Newtown as an administrator.

“Dr. Salvatore has done much for our school community. He has been an advocate for students, staff and parents. He has dedicated his professional life to making a difference in others’ lives,” Principal Thomas Einhorn stated in the message.

Salvatore’s duties will be covered by interim Assistant Principal John Smith.

The Board of Education is expected to accept the resignation as part of its personnel agenda tomorrow night.
