Danbury school hosts jazz sax musician Houston Person

Wooster School, a private school in Danbury, presents “An Evening with Houston Person,” April 17 at 7 pm at the school on Miry Brook Road.
Houston Person, renowned American jazz tenor saxophonist and record producer, has performed in the hard bop and swing genres but is most experienced in and best known for his work in soul jazz and his thirty year collaboration with singer Etta Jones.
Person is also known for his distinctive sassy sound and his expressive style of playing and has appeared on recordings with Lena Horne, Lou Rawls, Dakota Staton, Horace Silver, Charles Earland, Joey DeFrancesco, among many others.
Person pursued advanced studies at Hartt College of Music in Hartford, Connecticut and in 1982, he received the prestigious Eubie Blake Jazz Award.
Tickets are $5 for students, $10 for adults.
