Connecticut Light & Power Co. is now working on replacing 150 telephone poles in Ridgefield. The cost of the project will be about $2 million, CL&P said.
The work began in March and will continue into September..
The street where the utilty plans to do the work include: Bennett’s Farm Road, Cross Hill Road, Danbury Road, Farmingville Road, Great Hill Road, Knollwood Drive, Old Quarry Road, Old Stagecoach Road, Grove Street, South Street, Old Danbury Road, and Haviland Road.
CL&P is also spending about $600,000 for tree-trimming in town and is also working to install stronger wire connectors.
Twice in 2011 after Tropical Storm Irene and the October nor’easter and in 2012 after Superstorm Sandy, the entire town lost power, largely because of downed trees and tree limbs.
