Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is expected to make an announcement this afternoon that Danbury based Cartus will receive a $6.5 million forgivable loan to retain and create jobs in the region, according to sources with knowledge of the deal.

Sources said the company was considering moving out of state and had considered locations both in Texas and New York state.

The state loan, provided through the Department of Economic and Community Development, will help the company retain more than 1,200 jobs in the state and create as many as 200 new jobs within the next five years, sources said.

Cartus is expected to use the money to help fund an expansion project.

Malloy is expected to release additional details during a press conference scheduled for 11:30 a.m. this afternoon.
