Out of the 50 states, Connecticut is on the low side in its rate og teen pregnancy, according to new statistics released by the Guttmacher Institute, which studies pregnancy and birth control in the United States.
In its newest ranking Connecticut comes in 39th, with #1. New Mexico, having the highest rate of teen pregnancy and New Hampshire, at 50, having the lowest.
The Guttmacher Institute said that on the whole, teen pregnancy rates in the US have reached historic lows, across regional and ethnic lines.
What’s also interesting is that along with Connecticut, all six New England states have low teen pregnancy rates. So do Minnesota and North Dakota. One conclusion might be that is that cold climates, with all the layers of clothing that have to be removed, may have something to do with this.
