UPDATE – 10:50 a.m. Several schools in Bethel will dismiss early today due to power outages caused by a crash on Plumtrees Road this morning.
Bethel Schools Superintendent Dr. Kevin Smith said an estimate on power restoration was moved back until later in the day prompting early dismissals.
Bethel Middle School and R.M.T. Johnson School will dismiss at 12:56 p.m. Frank A. Berry School and Anna H. Rockwell School will dismiss at 1:40 p.m.
Smith also said there will be no afternoon Circle of Friends pre-school.
UPDATE – 8:53 a.m. Ten Connecticut Light and Power customers in Bethel remain without power due to a crash that took down power lines this morning.
Town First Selectman Matt Knickerbocker posted a tweet this morning which said that the phone lines at town hall are also without service due to the crash.
UPDATE – 7:42 a.m. The driver in the Plumtrees Road crash is being transported to Danbury Hospital for evaluation.
BETHEL — Police and medical responders are headed to Plumtrees Road where a car has hit a utility pole and crashed into a ravine.
The crash brought down Connecticut Light and Power lines though injuries have not been reported.
As of 7:35 a.m., the only CL&P customers without service were in Newtown, where 23 were reported without service.
