BRIDGEPORT – Police have made an arrest in connection with the fatal shooting of a local man in Danbury and the shooting up of a house here.
Rashad Dancy, 25, was arrested following a motor vehicle stop on Boston Avenue. Under Dancy’s driver’s seat police said they found a spent rifle cartridge that appears to match ones found outside a Shelton Street home that had been peppered with gunfire Monday morning.
He was charged with criminal possession of a firearm but police said the investigation is ongoing.
Jeiel Kingston, 23, of Bridgeport, was found shot to death on White Street in Danbury early Saturday. Police sources said the killing the shooting of the Shelton Street house here are related.
Police said it appears Dancy shot up the house to avenge his friend’s death.
Police said witnesses told them the shots were fired at the house from a red car that drove off at high speed. Police said they found numerous rifle bullet casings and a few from a pistol on the ground outside the house.
One of the home’s residents told detectives that her son had been assaulted late Friday night while at the Mambo club in Danbury with friends – the same club police said Kingston was at prior to his slaying. A big fight broke out at the club, spilling into the parking lot, police said. During the clash in the parking lot, police said the Shelton Street resident was punched by another man who yelled, “You alls dead.”
Police said they received information the parking lot assailant had gone to Harding High School.
Late Monday night, police said they spotted a red Ford sedan that matched the description of the car fleeing the Shelton Street house after the shooting and pulled it over on Boston Avenue. They said the driver, Dancy, appeared very nervous and asked officers, “Does this have something to do with my friend getting killed this weekend?”
When officers asked Dancy where his friend was killed they said he answered, “Danbury.”
