CARMEL, N.Y. — A Danbury man has been convicted of felony drug sales in Putnam County. His arrest occurred just one day after he completed parole in Connecticut for the same crime.
Bounmy Douangta, 30, a pleaded guilty to a felony count of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, a felony and will be sentenced on May 27.
Douaganta had been off parole for less than 24 hours when he travelled to Southeast on April 23, 2013 and sold nearly $500 worth of narcotic pills directly to an undercover Putnam County Sheriff’s Deputy, according to Putnam County District Attorney Adam Levy.
“Criminals, especially those who live out of state, should think long and hard before coming to Putnam County to commit a crime,” Levy said. “This is especially true for drug dealers, who peddle their poison and prey on addicts without regard to the devastating consequences that result from their actions.”
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Sarah Crabtree.
