Danbury area men held on drug charges

BREWSTER, NY — Two Danbury area men were arrested Saturday at 1:35 a.m. on drug charges in Brewster.
John G. Lewis, 28, of Newtown, and Raul Albuquerque, 32, of Danbury, were observed throwing several bags from the vehicle Albuquerque was driving on I-84 when Brewster police office pulled the vehicle over for speeding, police said.
The Trooper is a K-9 officer and utilized the dog, finding several bags of cocaine along the roadway that had allegedly been thrown from the vehicle, police said.
Albuquerque was subsequently found to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs, according to police.
Both men were arrested and charged with 4th-degree criminal possession of controlled drugs and tampering with physical evidence. Albuquerque was also charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
They were arraigned in Southeast Court. Lewis is being held on $10,000 bond and Albuquerque is held on $20,000 bond in Putnam County Jail. Their next court date is May 12.
