Thursday’s full moon is called the strawberry moon.
It will be the same old pale gold color. But native Americans called it the strawberry moon because it shone on patches of ripe, wild strawberries. (Because of the cold late spring this year, the moon may be shining on unripe, green berries.)
Strawberries aren’t native to Europe. There, the June moon is known as the Rose Moon, because roses come into bloom in June. The moon’s color is the same pale gold there as well.
