Forty eight students from Danbury High School just passed their Certified Nurse’s Aide exam and earned their CNA certification.
The DHS students had a 100 percent pass rate on the practical portion of the exam and a 98 percent pass rate on the multiple choice portion.
Two students of the 50 students will retake the multiple choice portion later in the month.
This year’s results are an improvement from an already impressive 96 percent pass rate last year.
The high school’s CNA training is a one-year program held two to three days a week at the high school with clinical rotations at Danbury Hospital.
Most of the students are seniors and will be pursuing degrees in nursing and other health-care related fields after graduation.
“We have by far succeeded the Connecticut state average pass rate and will be sending 50 new CNAs into the workforce,” said Katie Tong, a registered nurse and health occupations educator at the high school. “Some of them already have jobs lined up.”
