NEW MILFORD — Support is rallying for Loaves & Fishes Hospitality House approval by the New Milford Zoning Commission.
The commission authorized a resolution of disapproval at its June 10 meeting for Loaves & Fishes application to build on Bridge Street. The formal vote happens June 24.
In response, New Milford’s Democratic Town Committee has drafted the following resolution:
Resolved, the New Milford Democratic Town Committee urges the Zoning Commission to make every effort to reach a satisfactory solution that will allow Loaves & Fishes to lease the building on Bridge Street. We feel that Loaves & Fishes has made good faith efforts to meet conditions the Zoning Commission imposed on the group in order to get approved. We feel the downtown locale of the service is too important for the matter to be dropped. We urge Mayor Murphy to try to broker a solution to the zoning issues that will keep Loaves & Fishes in an area close to downtown. We also urge the mayor to allow Loaves & Fishes to remain at the Richmond Center until the group can find a new location close to downtown.
Mayor Pat Murphy responded Wednesday, “Zoning is comprised of elected officials tasked with maintaining the lawful structures of this town by regulations. I have no comment or opinion on their decisions.”
