The Ridgefield police officer who fatally shot a millionaire philanthropist in his Ridgebury Road home last May was justified, a report released Wednesday by the state Division of Criminal Justice concluded.
Officer Jorge Romero was among the officers who went to John Valluzzo’s home on May 24, 2013, after receiving a report of a domestic incident in the home.
Valluzzo, 75, was shot when he approached the officers while carrying a loaded handgun at about 5:20 p.m.
After reviewing an investigation by the state police Western District Major Crimes Squad, Danbury judicial district State’s Attorney Stephen Sedensky concluded Romero was justified in using deadly force, according to the report released Wednesday afternoon.
