UPDATE: The following information has been made available by the Brookfield Police Department.
Candlewood Lake Road in Brookfield, which was closed because of a car crash, was reopened at approximately 2:15 p.m.
A two-car crash with injuries took place on Candlewood Lake Road north of the intersection with Kellogg Street shortly before 11 a.m. A Subaru Outback, traveling north, crossed the double-yellow center line and collided with a southbound Honda Pilot, that was being driven by a 16-year-old Brookfield resident. Neither car had any passengers.
Both drivers were taken to Danbury Hospital. The driver of the Subaru Outback was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. The other driver was not seriously injured.
The name of the deceased is not being released at this time, pending notification of next-of-kin.
EARLIER: A report was received that a major motor vehicle accident took place around 11 a.m. at 333 Candlewood Lake Road and that the fire department was on scene working to extricate two victims who were pinned.
Police confirmed that an accident has taken place on Candlewood Lake Road in Brookfield, but could provide no other details at this time.
