State police have arrested a New Fairfield woman on 10 counts of child abuse.
Alexandra Aucapina, 27, turned herself in Tuesday afternoon after an outstanding warrant had been issued for her. The warrant was for several counts of child abuse that occurred at her home on Possum Drive. The counts vary on levels of abuse.
Aucapina has been charged with five counts of risk of injury to a minor, one count of assault in the second degree, two counts of reckless endangerment, two counts of unlawful restraint, and two counts of child cruelty.
Police have been investigating Aucapina since February, after initial reports of child abuse. The children were removed from the home and the police searched the residence.
Evidence was found within the home of abuse and a arrest warrant was issued for Aucapina.
Aucapina was released on a $25,000 court-set bond.
