Flames and smoke coming from a condo fire in New Milford

UPDATE 12:42 p.m. — A resident of the building, Cathy, last name has not been released, was covered with soot. She was transported to Danbury Hospital with smoke inhalation.

Paula Pugliese was in unit 4 when her daughter smelled smoke. They got out as fire ran down the roof.

Angola Appi, was driving by the building, saw smoke and an elderly woman running in an apartment. She was trying to save her dog he said.

Appi pulled her out and crawled in on his stomach. The smoke was thick but he saw a fire burning in the living room by the sliding glass door. He had to crawl back without the dog.

Robin Buchanan, a house cleaner, also smelled the smoke. She ran outside and saw smoke coming from the corner of Cathy’s condo. Then a flame ran up the outside wall and flared as it hit the roof.

UPDATE 11:08 a.m. — A person has been transported to Danbury Hospital from the scene of the condo fire. No word on type of injury .

ORIGINAL POST — There is a residential fire at a condo on 466 Danbury Road in New Milford.

Flames and smoke are visible from the Candlewood Valley Building. Mutual aid from Brookfield, Bridgewater and Washington  are responding to the area.

The Northbound and Southbound lanes to Route 7 have closed due to the fire and ambulances are on the scene.
