The American Red Cross responded to the severe residential fire that tore through a condo building in New Milford.
The organization is helping 11 people in six families that were affected by the fire. According to the Red Cross, eight adults have received emergency food and clothing and are in the process of making alternative living arrangements.
“We will be available to help all the residents affected by the fire,” Red Cross Senior Director of Emergency Services, Natalie Dos Santos said.
The fire broke out Thursday morning and quickly spread. Flames and smoke were clearly visible from the roof of the condos. Many residents were at home when the fire started.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated by the New Milford Fire Marshal.
