The Annual Great Swamp Fall Celebration sponsored by Friends of The Great Swamp (FrOGS) will be at the Thomas Memorial Center, Christ Church, in Pawling, N.Y., from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 25, and from noon to 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 26.
This year the event will feature a juried photo competition for adults and students called “Focus on The Great Swamp.” Photographs will be judged on artistic merit and how well they express the swamp’s value to wildlife, biodiversity and the human community within the watershed. Cash prizes will be awarded. Registration forms and submission information can be found at www.frogs-ny.org.
To help photographers prepare for the competition, two professional photographers are offering workshops: a “Photo Ramble” led by Lonna Kelly on Saturday, Sept. 6, in Putnam County Land Trust’s Clough Preserve, and “Preparing Your Photos for Competition” by Lori Adams at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 11, at the Patterson Library. Photographers are asked to call 845-878-9248 or 845-878-7740 to register for the workshops. Photographs will be welcomed to the competition regardless of whether the photographer participates in one of the workshops.
