After being arrested for a number of drug charges, Juan Rodriguez, 42, broke free from officers in a failed attempt to avoid detainment.
Danbury and Bethel Police worked together on Friday to arrest Rodriguez after a search warrant was issued for the suspected sale of drugs out of his home on Highview Terrace.
As Rodriguez was getting out of his car, police attempted to search him. He was found with a large quantity of cocaine, which was package for sale, police said.
Rodriguez then fought with officers and tried to run and was then forcibly taken, police said. After being handcuffed and waiting to be taken to the police station, Rodriguez broke free again and ran away. A short time later as he was getting in to a stopped car, police finally obtained him.
He was taken to Danbury Hospital after being injured from the arrest.
At Rodriguez’s home they also found ounces of cocaine and several thousand dollars. He was charge with five counts of possession of narcotics, interfering with a search and attempt to escape from custody. He is being held on a $300,000 bond.
