The pedestrian overpass has been deemed safe, said Paul Steinmetz of WCSU. The cement on the overpass was already crumbling from when it was hit a few years ago.
However, the truck that hit the overpass did not stop, he said. Both Danbury and WCSU police are searching for the driver.
Update: 8:44 a.m.
Reports from police say that it was a truck backhoe that hit part the overpass causing cement to fall into the road.
The debris has been removed, and police are still investigating if there was any structural damage done to the overpass.

A tractor trail has hit the overpass on White Street at Western Connecticut State University.
Both Danbury police and WCSU police are on scene.
