Southbury woman dies in car crash

Southbury resident, Linda Zoppa, 67, who in 2011 appeared on an ABC special segment, called “Primetime: Celebrity Weight Loss, has died from injuries she sustained in a car accident.

Last Wednesday evening, Zoppa was driving down New Wheeler Road in Southbury, when she veered into the right side lane and on to Heritage Road, police said

The car crossed over lawns and struck a tree. At the scene Zoppa was unresponsive and was taken to Waterbury Hospital.

Shortly after arriving at the hospital, she was pronounced dead.

According to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Zoppa died due to blunt impact injury of the torso. It has been ruled an accident.

Zoppa lived at Heritage Village and prior to her retirement she studied library science at Queens College in Flushing, N.Y.
