EARLIER:Route 37 in New Milford is closed in both directions in the vicinity of Cortland Drive due to a snapped telephone pole that fell into the road.

New Milford police are directing drivers on to Route 55 up to Sherman. The road is closed indefinitely, police said.
Drivers should use caution and find alternate routes if available.
