Two Danbury men were arrested after police were called to Washington Avenue Friday afternoon for complaints of a suspicious car, police said.
Officers driving past a Jeep Cherokee could smell marijuana emanating from the vehicle, according to police reports. This matched complaints made by several residents.
Police discovered five people in the car. Three of them were released without being charged, but Robert Stevenson, 20, of Washington Avenue, was found to be in possession of jewelry he reportedly stole from his mother. He was charged with sixth-degree larceny and released on $5,000 bond with a court date of Oct. 31.
Eric Espinal, 23, of Osborne Street, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession near a prohibited place, and possession of more than four ounces of marijuana, police said. He was also found to be in violation of probation, according to police reports. He was held on a $50,000 bond for the most recent charges, plus a $10,000 bond for the probation violation.
