Though the official results for his race are still yet to be formally tabulated, with Brookfield’s election results still not available, Brookfield Democrat Dan Smolnik acknowledged defeat to 16-year Republican incumbent David Scribner in the 107th State House race.
“I wish David well in his next term, and I plan to continue with my public service,” said Smolnik, a tax attorney who spent a year as the Brookfield Democratic Town Committee chairman and remains active with the local party.
The campaign was able to bring out some important issues for consideration, and expects those will be debated again in the future, Smolnik said.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to give voters in the district a choice,” Smolnik said.
Results for last minute, write-in candidate Bruce Siennick were not available, but at least in Danbury and Bethel he collected no votes.
