The Rivers Alliance of Connecticut has named Lynn Werner _ the executive director of the Housatonic Valley Association – as its Environmental Champion of 2013.
The alliance honored Werner for her leadership in protecting the Housatonic River watershed, the regional Highlands, the wetlands and water courses in her hometown of Kent and throughout Connecticut.
Werner has been the association’s director since 1995. She’s also the chairman of the Kent Inland-Wetlands and Watercourses Commission; a board director of the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters; an advisory director of the Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition, and a founding board director of Earthshare New England and Earthshare National.
She is also a founding director and past-president of Rivers Alliance. This is the first time in its twenty-year history that Rivers Alliance has honored a board member.
