The   Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has extended the public comment period for a proposed regulation to establish a slow-no-wake zone on Lake Waramaug in the upper portion of the cove that abuts Lake Waramaug State Park.

The public comment period has been extended from November 22, 2013 to January 6, 2014.

“We were notified that some of the residents of the surrounding communities were unaware of the proposal to establish a slow-no-wake zone on Lake Waramaug,” said  the department’s Deputy Commissioner Susan Whalen.  “We want people who may be affected by this regulation to weigh in so we agreed to extend the comment period so that interested persons can fully consider the measure and comment accordingly.”

Copies of the proposal are available during normal business hours and may be obtained from Timothy Delgado at the DEEP Marine Headquarters, 333 Ferry Road, Old Lyme, Connecticut, 06371.  The proposal and associated documents are also posted on the DEEP Boating Divisionwebpage.

People can mail comments to the  DEEP-Marine Headquarters, Boating Division, P.O. Box 280, Old Lyme, CT 06371. All comments should be directed to the attention of Timothy Delgado.  Comments may be submitted by fax at  (860) 434-3501 or by electronic mail to timothy.delgado@ct.gov.  Only those written comments containing the names and address of those submitting the comments will be considered.
