NEW FAIRFIELD — The supervisor at Squantz Pond State Park has been arrested on charges of larceny and forgery.

Christopher Keenan was arrested Sunday by EnCon Police following an internal investigation. He was charged with first-degree larceny, two counts of second-degree larceny and three counts of second-degree forgery. He was released on a promise to appear in Superior Court in Danbury on Jan. 8, 2015.

Keenan allegedly took gasoline from state gasoline pumps at Squantz Pond State Park for personal use. He is also reported to have used state purchasing cards to buy gasoline and automotive parts for personal use. The total value of gasoline and automotive parts that are missing or were misappropriated is just over $9,800, according to DEEP spokesman Dennis Schain.

Keenan was notified of his termination from DEEP on Dec. 23. Consistent with state personnel regulations, he remains on administrative leave through Jan. 6, 2015 when that termination takes effect. He joined the DEEP in August 2007.
