State Police saw an increase in driving violations during this year’s holiday weekend, as troopers responded to 279 car accidents in just three days.
In an attempt to reduce holiday crashes, the State Police enforced the driving program, S.A.N.T.A. to keep residents and drivers safe.
The initiative, which stands for stop another needles tragic accident, aimed to curb drunken driving with increased patrols during the holiday period.
State Police increased patrols of roads and highways across the state. The main focus was on drunken, aggressive and unsafe drivers.
This State Police enforcement will continue into the New Year’s Eve holiday celebration. Troopers will continue to add additional patrols and DUI check points enforcement throughout the state.
