DANBURY — A 21 year old city man was arrested for drunk driving Saturday.
Mayqssuel Castilho-Martins, of Mountainville Avenue, Danbury was arrested Saturday about 1:53 a.m. on Tamarack Drive after police followed his vehicle into the parking lot of the Domino shopping center.
The officer was on routine patrol when he saw Castihlo-Martins vehicle driving eratically on Hayestown Avenue and followed the vehicle into the parking lot on Tamarack Drive, police said.
The officer approached the vehicle to see why it was stopped in the lot when all stores were closed and as the window was opened a strong odor of marijuana was emitted, police said. The officer also observed beer cans on the vehicle’s floor. A 16-year-old girl was a passenger in the vehicle. She was also under the influence according to police.
The girl was released to her parents. Castilho-Martins was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and possession of less than half-an ounce of marijuana and risk of injury to a minor. He was released on $500 bond with a court date Jan. 13 in Superior Court in Danbury.
