Update: 8:10 a.m.
A home on Anderson Road in Sherman has been destroyed due to a late night fire, that drove a family out into the bitter cold.
When the Sherman Fire Department arrived on scene, it was a fully involved structure fire, said Chris Pritcher, chief of the Sherman Fire Department.
At least five other fire companies responded to the fire including, Kent, Waterwitch, Gaylordsville and New Fairfield, Pritcher said.
Water supply gave firefighters trouble, as no hydrants were in the immediate area, Pritcher said. Crews had to bring water in from the Housatonic River.
Icy roads and snow were also a problem last night, as a strong breeze made it difficult to extinguish the fire, Pritcher said. However, firefighters gained control of the fire within 45 minutes.
There were no injuries and the family was out of the home by the time Sherman Fire Department arrived. Although, the home is essentially a loss, Pritcher said.
