NEW MILFORD — A police chase ended in the tasered arrest of a Dover Plains, N.Y. man in New Milford.

Bryan Morfea, 30, of Ten Mile River Drive, Dover Plains was arrested Jan. 10 about 2 p.m. after resisting arrest at Faith Church, 600 Danbury Road, police said.

A tan 2004 tan Kia Spectra was reported about 1:21 p.m. to be operating erratically southbound on Kent Road near the Kent border. The car was located by New Milford Police and stopped at 200 Kent Road, the First Light Rocky River power facility.

The operator was Morfea, who was not complaint and a brief standoff took place while attempts were made to get him to cooperate. Morfea then drove from the scene and was pursued to the intersection of Kent Road and Bridge Street where officers stopped following, police said.

A check was made at Faith Church about 2 p.m. when Morfea’s vehicle was located there and it was determined he was in the building. The State Police and Brookfield Police responded to assist and the building was put in lockdown, police said.

Police searched the building and Morfea was located. He resisted arrest and was tasered and taken into custody with only minor injuries, according to police.

Morfea was taken to New Milford Hospital and later transferred to Danbury Hospital for psychiatric evaluation. He was released on a $25,000 bond with a court date Jan. 20 in Superior Court in Bantam.

Morfea was charged with reckless driving, engaging in pursuit, interfering with an officer and disorderly conduct.
