No one was injured during a chimney fire in an East Hayestown Road apartment late Tuesday morning, according to the Danbury Fire Department.
Seven units responded to the scene right after 11:30 a.m. The fire was set off by natural gas, which the homeowners were able to shut off before firefighters arrived, in the apartment’s fireplace, said Steve Rogers, a fire department spokesman.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire but they’re still on scene investigating the incident. Gas in the apartment will remain off until the investigation is over, Rogers said.
