Cops: Drug dealer arrested near Danbury school

A Danbury man was arrested Friday morning after police say they saw him selling drugs near St. Peter’s Elementary School.

Officers in plain clothes were driving an unmarked vehicle downtown at about 9:30 a.m. when they saw Shawn LeBlanc, 26, during a hand-to-hand drug transaction in the alley way of 165 Main St., police said.

The officers, who immediately recognized LeBlanc from previous arrests, tried to approach the suspect but he took off running, according to the report. Police said they chased him and caught him after setting up a perimeter in the area.

LeBlanc was carrying 133 packs of heroin and a large amount of marijuana in his backpack, according to police.

He was charged with three counts each of possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell and possession of narcotics with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school; possession of marijuana over half an ounce; possession marijuana with intent to sell; possession of marijuana with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school; and interfering with a police officer. 

LeBlanc is being held in lieu of $100,000 bond.
