DANBURY — A 40 year old city man is facing larceny and evading responsibility charges following a two car crash early Sunday.
Raul Mauel Buele, of Patch Street, Danbury was arrested about 3:45 a.m. Sunday at his residence. Police had responded to a crash on Division Street about 2:05 a.m. in whcih a Honda Odyssey struck the back of a Honda Accord. The driver of the Odyssey attempted to leave the scene but was unable to get the car off of a snow bank, police said.
The Odyssey driver then left the scene before police arrived. At About 3:45 a.m., police responded to Patch Street on the report of a stolen car. It was discovered that the car reported stolen was the Odyssey that had been in the accident, police said.
The woman who reported the stole car said she had left the car keys on a table in the house and when she woke up realized the keys were gone as was the car which had been parked in the driveway.
Her roommate, Buele, admitted to having taken the car and then striking the Acocord and leaving the Odyssey at the scene of the accident, police said.
Buele was charged with evading responsibility, failure to drive right, illegal operation of a motor vehicle/driving without a license, and third-degree larceny.
He was released on $5,000 bond with a court date March 9 in Superior Court in Danbury.
