How well does the influenza vaccine work?
In a new study, the US Centers for Disease Control and prevention estimated that in 2012, the vaccine prevented 79,000 hospitalizations and kept 6 .6 million people from becoming sick.
.But 381,000 people still needed to be admitted to the hospital because of the flu. the CDC estimates that only half the people who could be vaccinated get a shot.
