NEW MILFORD — By a unanimous vote Monday the Town Council approved injstalling two artificial turf fields at New Milford High School.
Mayor Pat Murphy was authorized to form a building committee that will create a request for bids for installation of the field. Funding to pay for the $3 million project is to be determined after bids are in.
“I think this could be done without excessive cost to the town,” Murphy said. ”I’ve talked with the finance director and am thinking maybe short term borrowing. We’ve gotten excellent rates on that recently.”
Murphy said drawing funds from the Waste Management settlement Fund is not off the table.
“All avenues for funding the project will be reviewed to get the best outcome,” the mayor said. “It’s legal to go out for an RFP at this point and the building committee will decide what bid benefits us the most in quality and price.”
